michael-jackson-memorial-ticket-winnersOnly 8,750 names were announced from 1.6 million entries in the Michael Jackson memorial service lottery. Each receiving two tickets; 17,500 tickets all together. A portion of fans went to The Staple Center; the balance going to The Nokia center across the street.

Sounds so top secret! Meanwhile, no one wasn’t seems to know what will actually happen during the memorial or, for that matter, how everything is being paid for.

The TV! ABC, CNN, MSNBC and E! have was announced their plans to offer live coverage of the event.

Before the announcement:
The city of Los Angeles, like other municipalities around the country is struggling to make ends meet. Jan Perry, LA councilwoman, is asking for the same generosity as was seen after the Lakers won the championship. Since many of the fans are not from the Los Angele area and don’t have the same city loyalty, this may be difficult. Also, many of the contributors were businesses who may not be so generous this time around.

People have begun bidding on hokey collages and decades old concert tickets, both used and unused. The Better Business Bureau warns that some of this memorabilia may lose value over time.

One fan is trying to sell the Thriller album for $1 million. So far there are no takers even with the free shipping offered by the seller.

The traffic on Jackson related websites has been unprecedented. There have been so many visitors to some websites that Google mistook the traffic for a “Denial of Service” (DOS) attack. There were so many searches the day of his death that Google said it resembled a malicious bot (robot) attack on their servers. TMZ was hit with 42 clicks per second.
