Federer is 2009 Wimbledon Champion Beating Andy Roddick in Final

federer-is-2009-wimbledon-champion-beating-andy-roddick-in-finalRoger Federer beat Andy Roddick in the men’s final of Wimbledon Championship 2009.

A 95-minute final set. Rog’s first and only break, but he won’t mind – he has won his record 15th Grand Slam. The crowd chant “Roger! Roger!” then “Roddick! Roddick!”
This is how the longest final in the history completed. Federer is champion of 2009 Wimbledon after playing the longest final of 4 hours 16 minutes. A-Rod apologises to Pete Sampras for not stopping Rog from taking the record! An ovation for a tearful A-Rod, and an even bigger one for Rog! Rog thanks Sampras for coming! Plenty of loving for Pistol Pete here! More review of Wimbledon Championship 2009 is coming …….

[correction to previous comment, where I wrote 2 hours instead of 4 hours]:

"Federer is champion of 2009 Wimbledon after playing the longest final of 4 hours 16 minutes."

The above statement is misleading. In the tiebreaker era:

    * This match was Wimbledon's longest men's final *only* in terms of *games played* (77).

    * The longest Wimbledon's men's final in terms of *time* was the 2008 final (Nadal-Federer), which took 4 hours and 48 minutes.
