Urban Dictionary Week is just the latest trend to hit the social networking site (previous ones have included bra color status updates and celebrity doppelgangers), huffingtonpost reported. Taking part in Urban Dictionary Week on Facebook is easy.

Go to urbandictionary.com, type in your first name, copy and paste this as your Facebook status, and put the first entry for your name under comments. OK, you don’t really have to do it, but if you don’t, you’ll be missing out on the latest Facebook craze: Urban Dictionary week.

For me, the result is this: “Based on the central character in the Eminem song of the same name, a “stan” is an overzealous maniacal fan for any celebrity or athlete.” Close enough, although I’d replace “celebrity or athlete” with “electronic gadget or video game.”

Just like most other Facebook (Facebook) trends, this one seems equally useless (other than being a nice promotion for Urban Dictionary), but it can be a lot of fun. If you decide try it out, be careful, Urban Dictionary is a site that doesn’t shy away from very strong language.

Urbandictionary.com Wiki: Urban Dictionary is a Web-based dictionary of slang words and phrases. As of 2009, the site contains over four million definitions. Submissions are regulated by volunteer editors and rated by site visitors.

Time’s Anita Hamilton placed Urban Dictionary on her 50 best websites of 2008 list.

The site was founded in 1999 by Aaron Peckham while he was a freshman computer science major at California Polytechnic State University. One of the first definitions on the site was, “the man”, referring to, “the head of the establishment put in place to ‘bring us down.’”
