US Senate is gearing up for two more votes on its health care legislation, including the last big hurdle standing between Democrats and a vote Thursday morning on final passage of the measure.

The last vote at this stage in the process requires super majority of 60 senators. Once Democrats cross that threshold, they will need only a simple majority of the senators present tomorrow morning to adopt the bill.
58 Democrats and 2 independents are expected to support the Senate’s version of health-care reform in a vote Thursday morning. The bill, designed to expand health-insurance coverage to tens of millions of Americans, offers tax subsidies to purchase insurance and widens eligibility for Medicaid, the federal-state program that provides health insurance to the poor. Immediately after the health care vote, the Senate plans to vote on House passed legislation increasing the government’s borrowing authority.
