Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni said they would bounce back in the seven-match series. But it won’t be a cakewalk for Dhoni and his men as they are facing a resurgent Australia. Since the comeback of speedster Bret Lee, the team’s balling has been superb. And their star batsmen are in good form.

Chasing the target of 293 set by Australia, Indian batsmen faltered on a good batting pitch. At one stage India were struggling at 201 for seven. All hopes were lost. But a splendid knock by spinner Harbhajan Singh (49 off 31 balls) and Praveen Kumar (40 not out of 32 balls) brought India close to victory. They added 84 runs for the eighth wicket. However, in the end it was the Australians who won the match.

Earlier, medium-pacer Ashish Nehra (2-58) gave India the right start. He trapped Shane Watson leg-before. But Hussey led from the front. In the final over he smashed eight fours and one six for his 54-ball 73 to lift the Australian total. With his help, Australia set a target that became impossible for India to achieve.
