ESPN’s Steve Phillips Takes Leave of Absence Due to Sex Scandal with Brooke Hundley
ESPN baseball analyst and Mets GM Steve Phillips acknowledged having an affair with a 22-year-old assistant Brooke Hundley at the cable network and has taken a leave of absence.
On Wednesday, Steve Phillips, 46, said in a statement, “I am deeply sorry that I have put my family and colleagues through this. It is a personal matter that I will not comment on further.”

Steve Phillips also said he requested the leave to “address this with my family and to avoid any unnecessary distractions through the balance of the baseball playoffs.”
The scandal has put Phillips career in doubt and apparently destroyed his marriage. Steve Phillips wife Marni Phillips has filed for divorce.

Brooke Hundley, 22, began calling Phillips’ wife, Marni, on Aug. 5 after he broke off the affair and sent her a letter graphically describing their relationship and Phillips’ birthmarks, police said.
According to New York Post, infidelity came to light after three-night-stand Brooke Hundley cyberstalked Steve Phillips teenage son and left a tawdry letter at his Connecticut home.

Steve Phillips said he feared Hundley, a low-level ESPN employee, might harm his family, police reported.
Steve Phillips told Wilton, Conn., cops Aug. 21, “This woman has clearly displayed erratic behavior and delusional tendencies.”
“Despite the fact that she has been spoken to by a police detective, I have extreme concerns about the health and safety of my wife, my kids and myself,” Steve Phillips said.
The ex-Met general manager, who has a history of cheating on Steve Phillips wife Morni Phillips claimed he had “three sexual encounters” with Brooke Hundley in July, the report said. Steve Phillips told cops he tried to break it off, but Hundley wouldn’t hear of it.

Marni Phillips told cops, the 2008 Ithaca College grad bombarded his wife with phone calls and texts. “The tone of the text message was, ‘I care about Steve, I make him happy and we both can’t have him.”
