Jennifer Lopez has officially won a lawsuit filed against a website operator out of Phoenix, Arizona who was registred and using the domain name under her name.

A domain name is a name which identifies one or more IP addresses. For example,
the domain name hagiohost.com represents about a dozen IP addresses. Domain
names are used in URLs to identify particular Web pages. For example, in the URL http://hagiohost.com/webhosting/, the domain name is hagiohost.com.

The website operator name is Jeremiah Tieman. He was sites with domain names JenniferLopez.net and JenniferLopez.org (don’t go there right now). The websites
then directed users to another website that generated “pay-per-click” advertising profits.

Pay Per Click (PPC) is an Internet advertising model used on search engines, advertising networks, and content sites, such as blogs, in which advertisers pay their host only when their ad is clicked. With search engines, advertisers typically bid on keyword phrases relevant to their target market. Content sites commonly charge a fixed price per click rather than use a bidding system.

jennifer Lopez registered her name as a trademark in the United States in May of 1999 and argued that the sites were in violation of U.S. copyright laws. So one can use those domain Officials at the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) agreed with the star, ruling in her favor and ordering Tieman to hand over the sites to Lopez within 10 days.

The World Intellectual Property Organization known as WIPO is one of the 16 specialized agencies of the United Nations. WIPO was created in 1967 “to encourage creative activity, to promote the protection of intellectual property throughout the world”.

Jennifer Lopez will give those domain name to her foundation. The Name of her foundation is ‘The Jennifer Lopez Foundation’ .
